Parachute Stoppings
Coned Parachute Stoppings
Coned Parachute Stoppings are used to provide an effective temporary vent control, often used for sealing off old stopes and creating temporary vent circuits. The cone shape of the parachutes is designed to create a better seal in the drive, providing up to a 95% effective seal.
Standard Coned Parachute sizes
Size | Suits |
---|---|
10/10/PARA | 5.5 – 6m Tunnel |
9/9/PARA | 5 – 5.5m Tunnel |
8/8/PARA | 4.5 – 5m Tunnel |
All Parachutes are manufactured from high wear material, additional webbing reinforcement can be included for higher situational pressures. Parachutes can be manufactured to suit specific tunnel profiles or pressure capacities.
Flat Parachute Stopping
Flat parachute stoppings are made with the same high wear material as our coned parachute stoppings and are typically used to seal existing vent controls such as ventilation doors and fabricated stoppings.
Mine Ventilation Leakage
What Does It Cost?
Mine Leakage is typically accepted to be 15-20% of Total Primary flow. In a Mine of 500m3/s – this is up to 100m3/s!
Based on Air-power calculations.
- At 2.2kpa = 1100kw air power
- Fan Power (80% efficiency) = 1320kW Input Power
- Based on $0.17kw/Hr = Approx. $3,900.00 Per M3/s – Per year
- 20% Leakage = $393,000.00 Per year!
The Effect Of Reduced Leakage?
- Primary fan upgrades may be pushed out or prevented.
- Safety improved with better working conditions underground.
- Legal compliance by having adequate flow available.
- Improvement on the efficiency of the primary ventilation system.
- Additional production capability. 50m3/s = an additional Truck and Loader to be introduced underground without upgrading the primary ventilation system.
